Grading

At 3 Before 8, we believe in transparency and quality. To help you make informed decisions, we've adopted a comprehensive vinyl grading system. Each record in our collection is meticulously evaluated to ensure you know exactly what you're getting.

Below, you'll find our grading standards, detailing the condition of the viny. Whether you're a seasoned collector or new to the world of Northern Soul & Motown, you can shop with confidence knowing that our descriptions are accurate and honest.

1. Mint (M)
   

   The record is in perfect condition. It has never been played or removed from its sleeve. There are no marks, scratches, or defects of any kind.
   
   

2. Near Mint (NM or M-)
   

   The record has been played but shows no visible signs of wear or damage. The vinyl looks glossy and clean.
   
   

3. Excellent (EX)
   

   The record has been played but well cared for. It may have minor surface marks or slight scuffs that do not affect the sound quality.
   
   

4. Very Good Plus (VG+)
   

   The record has been played regularly but remains in good condition. It may have some visible surface marks and light scratches but nothing that significantly affects playback. 
   
   

5. Very Good (VG)
   

   The record shows signs of wear and use. There may be noticeable surface marks, light scratches, and minor scuffs, but it still plays through without skipping. Some surface noise and crackling may be present, especially in quieter sections. 
   
   

6. Good Plus (G+)
   

   The record has been heavily played and shows clear signs of use, including deeper scratches and significant surface noise. It may skip or have repeating clicks.
   
   

7. Good (G)
   

   The record is still playable but has significant surface noise, scratches, and visible groove wear. It may skip in some places.
